LOCATION:   National Specialty in Lexington, Kentucky.
• QUALIFYING LITTER DATE:  
  • All AKC and AKC recognized kennel club registered litters, including SPDBS, which are whelped 6 months prior to the date of the Futurity. 
    
• QUALIFYING AGE OF PUPPIES:  
  • All Salukis must be at least 6 months old on the day of the Futurity, but no older than 2 years of age on the day of the Futurity.   Due to the varying dates of the National, we have chosen June 15 th as the cutoff date for puppies to be shown at the Futurity.   This will apply to the 18-24 month old classes.
    
• WHO IS AUTHORIZED TO NOMINATE?:  
  • Any of the breeders of the litter may do the first 2 steps of the nominations.   Either breeder or owner of the Saluki may do the third and following individual dog nominations.   If someone other than one of these individuals is doing any portion of the nominations, then a written and signed   letter from one of the authorized individuals specified above, giving this person permission to do so, must be sent postal mail to the Futurity Secretary, and received no later than 30 days after the first nomination that this person does. No emails will be accepted for this.

FUTURITY ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS :   The futurity requires multiple nominations!   Below is the list of nomination steps, the timing, the fees, the requirements, etc. for each stage in qualifying for the Futurity. Read carefully and mark your calendars!

STEP I.   Nomination of a Pregnant Bitch - the 1st Nomination is Before Whelping

1. Pregnant bitch's (dam) registered name
2. Pregnant bitch's AKC Number, CRN Number, or Foreign Registration Number (in the case of an SPDBS litter)
3. Name of owners of pregnant bitch at the time of breeding
4. Sire's registered name
5. Sire's AKC Number, CRN Number, or Foreign Registration Number (in the case of an SPDBS litter
6. Name of owners of sire at the time of the breeding
7. Names of ALL of the breeders that will appear on the AKC papers
8. E-mail address

STEP II.   Nomination of a Litter - the 2nd Nomination is After Whelping

Timing :   Nomination must be received by the Futurity Secretary within 60 days of whelping.
FEE = $10.00 per litter.  

How to Enter :   Send the following information to the Futurity Secretary. All entries must be by postal mail, as fees must be attached. Required Information :

Mother/Bitch registered name (for reference)
Mother/Bitch registered number (for reference) or CRN Number
AKC litter registration number - or in the case of CRN eligible Salukis, statement of date born and sexes
Date whelped
# of males/dogs in the litter
#of females/bitches in the litter
E-mail address

STEP III, ETC. Nominations of EACH INDIVIDUAL PUPPY in the Litter
IMPORTANT: these are Continuous Nominations

 

FEE = $5.00 for each nomination per individual puppy - which means $5.00 for each 3 month period per individual

How to Enter :   Send the following information to the Futurity Secretary. All entries must be by postal mail as fees must be attached.

AKC litter registration # (for reference) - or in the case of CRN eligible Salukis, statement of date born and sexes
1. AKC or SPDBS registered name of Saluki
2. AKC or SPDBS registration number of Saluki puppy
3. Sex of the Saluki puppy

STEP IV .   Final Entry for Futurity Due May 2nd

  REMINDER:   Mark your calendars, and send your nomination and fees by postal mail only to the Futurity Secretary.   The Futurity Secretary should receive all nominations by the cut-off dates, so mail them in time to allow for postal delays.   If you feel you may be mailing too close to the deadline date, call or e-mail the Futurity Secretary and let her know you have sent the check and are e-mailing her the data.

FUTURITY JUDGE NOMINATIONS & SELECTION

• One nomination only for each litter. (Only one of the breeders may nominate a judge if there are multiple breeders.)
• One nomination only for each breeder. (Only one judge may be nominated by any breeder, even if more than one litter is nominated for the Futurity.)
• One nomination only for any judge. (No name duplications will go into the hat for the drawing. You will be notified if your judge selection is already nominated and will be allowed to choose again, if you wish.)

• The following people are not eligible to judge the futurity:   

  A.	Owned or co-owned sire of puppies nominated
  B.	Owned or co-owned dam of puppies nominated
  C.	Owned or co-owned puppies nominated
  D.	Employee or employer of A., B., or C.
  E.	Spouse or member of household

    

• Nominated judges' names will go into a "hat" and be drawn at random.
• Nominations are due to the Futurity Secretary no later than December 10th , for the Futurity of that year.
• It is suggested that, just as in nominating judges for specialties, that the Futurity judge nominee be a "Saluki person."
• If your litter would happen to be eligible two years in a row, you may nominate a new judge for the second year.
• You have to be current in the Futurity process - including fees and entry information.
• Judges will be eligible once every 10 years.
• When nominating a judge, provide all contact information.
• The names of all judges nominated will be printed in the newsletter, in the order pulled.
