Our standard does not discuss movement directly. The working gait of the Saluki is a gallop. Salukis are hunters. No game has ever been taken with tremendous reach and drive at the trot. Without a handler's influence, Salukis carry themselves as their structure allows. Their head can be more forward or more up, and their tails display their mood. Both these Salukis are covering ground efficiently, without rushing, and are using the full thrust of their hindquarters. We strongly urge you to discourage trot races in your ring.
